How Cooked Am I?

Privacy Policy

Your privacy, in plain language

Last updated: August 24, 2026

The short version

How Cooked Am I? doesn't ask for an account, a name, or an email address. What you type is sent to our AI provider to generate your score, roast, and suggested steps. Your history of past results is stored only on your device. We don't run analytics or advertising SDKs, and we don't sell your data.

What we collect

The only content the app handles is the text you type describing your situation (“the chaos”). We don't collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, or any device identifiers, and there is no account or sign-in of any kind.

How your description is used

When you submit a description, it's first checked on your device by a local safety filter. If it looks like it describes a crisis — self-harm, suicidal thoughts, abuse, or a medical emergency — the app never sends that text anywhere. Instead, it shows you real crisis resources directly, on-device.

Otherwise, your description is sent to OpenAI's API to run a moderation check and to generate a cooked score, a short roast, and a few practical steps. This is a one-off request made to produce your result — the app does not maintain a user profile with OpenAI, and OpenAI processes this text as an API request rather than a first party using it to serve you. Please see OpenAI's API data usage policy for details on how they handle API requests.

To avoid sending the same text twice, results may be cached briefly on your device so that re-analyzing identical text doesn't trigger a second request.

Where your data lives

Your timeline — the history of past cooked scores — is stored locally on your device only. We don't operate a server or database that stores your entries, and we can't see your timeline. Deleting the app deletes this history.

Analytics, ads, and third parties

The app does not include analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or crash-reporting tools that track you across apps or websites. The only third party involved in processing your data is OpenAI, used solely to generate your cooked score as described above.

Not medical advice

How Cooked Am I? is built for fun. It is not a diagnostic, therapeutic, or medical tool, and nothing it generates should be treated as professional advice. If you're struggling, please talk to someone you trust or a qualified professional — see our Support page for crisis resources.

Children's privacy

How Cooked Am I? is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app requires no account and stores no personal identifiers, we have no way to knowingly identify or retain data from a child.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the “last updated” date above and post the revised version at this same address.
